RAF Harlaxton was established in the First World War as a training centre. It is located to the southeast of the village with the same name.

During the Second World War, the airfield was used as a training facility for numerous units. It eventually had three grass runways and a total of 18 small hangars for aircraft. From 1942, the airfield served as a relief landing ground for various flying training squadrons. It eventually closed in 1957, after flying training switched to jet aircraft, for which Harlaxton’s grass runways were not suitable.

The land has since been returned to agricultural use, and very little remains of the former airfield.
