The Historical Technical Museum Peenemünde
The Historical Technical Museum in Peenemünde was built in 1991 on the grounds of the former German development centre where the V1 and V2 rockets were constructed. The museum reconstructs the history of the creation and use of these weapons.
Toeristische informatie
From 1936 to 1945, the Peenemünde Military Test Site formed the largest armaments centre in Europe. Up to 12,000 people worked on the world’s first cruise missiles and the first large-scale rockets. Both were designed as a weapon of terror against the civil population, made mostly by forced labourers and from 1944 they began to be used as “Vergeltungswaffen”. The Peenemünde Historical Technical Museum reconstructs the history of the creation and use of these weapons.
